Role Purpose                                                                               


The Assessment Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the operational delivery of the full spectrum of projects delivered by the Assessment team. The PM will ensure that clients receive the highest standards of service and that income and profit levels are maximised for the team.



Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Take full ownership of all projects assigned and use appropriate business tools to facilitate the effective implementation and delivery of each project.
  • Develop and drive robust resourcing solutions to deliver assessment projects, including appropriate and balanced use of in house and associate resource.
  • Control the use of resources, providing capacity planning for associate resource against anticipated work volumes and project timescales.
  • Demonstrate accurate measurement of and adherence to the signed contract, service level agreement, and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain effective project controls and management information, providing data to the team and Head of Assessment to enable efficiency reviews.
  • Ensure that regular auditing of activities is carried out, to continuously measure the quality and consistency of work delivered.


Client Management:

  • Proactively ensure that client needs are identified and work with the team to deliver a coordinated approach to client communication.
  • Work in close partnership with the client to measure the success of the projects delivered, ensure that objectives are met and feedback acted upon.
  • Establish close relationships with client representatives and other key members within those businesses, aiming to explore and exploit business opportunities.

Business Development


  • Provide support to Head of Assessment, peers and other colleagues within the business in working on new business activities, e.g. proposal documents, presentations.
  • Exploit business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Continually demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm in undertaking such activities that aim to grow the business. Identify and follows-up on all new business leads, taking full ownership of such activity.
  • Liaise closely with other core service areas within Penna to ensure that up-to-date knowledge of Penna’s core products and services is held and communicated to clients.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of the issues surrounding the recruitment industry and specifically Penna and our competitors.


Commercial Management

·         Support the Head of Assessment to help set annual income budgets and re-forecasts as required

·         Monitor and achieve income and profit targets for defined portfolio of clients.

·         Ensure accurate billing of all clients in accordance with guidelines set, working with Assessment Coordinator/s.

·         Ensure accurate forecasting (within 5% of actual invoice) on a monthly basis.

·         Ensure that client debt is managed by close liaison with the finance team and client procurement team.


Team Management

This role will require you to line manage one or more Assessment Coordinators.

·         Lead by example and providing appropriate support and guidance in setting and helping team members achieve their objectives.

·         Demonstrate assertiveness in dealing with non-performance or inappropriate behaviour of any team member, resolving any performance management issues in liaison with the Head of Assessment as required.

·         Ensure that all team members show respect and support for each other and work in a collaborative team based ethos.





Personal Attributes, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience


·         Proven recruitment, talent or assessment experience gained from a recruitment agency position or an in-house recruitment role.

·         Evidence of planning/scoping and running projects including selection and assessment and candidate management.

·         Ability to manage budgets and forecast income.

·         Experience of line management (desired)

·         Understanding of relevant legislation impacting on employment, equality, data protection and freedom of information.

·         Experience of writing new business documents such as tenders and proposals, ability to present at client pitches.

·         Demonstrates strong commercial awareness.

·         Has a good understanding of the key challenges surrounding the recruitment industry at present and the marketplace in which clients are operating.

·         Ability to identify business opportunities and provide clients with attractive solutions.

·         Understands the importance of and has the ability to build rapport with new clients, highlighting the benefits and advantages of their proposals.

·         Comes across as credible/expert in client meetings.

·         Experience of dealing with senior clients.
