At our 2024 end of calendar and financial year family gathering we took some time to reflect on the year gone by, and were delighted to welcome Kate Shoesmith, Deputy Chief Executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). The REC is the voice and the professional body for the UK recruitment industry and a leading light on market trends and data.
The REC’s data showed how recruitment markets were being impacted by financial pressures and government changes, and what that meant for us and the industry. From the Employment Rights Bill to Labour’s 5 Missions for A Better Britain and the Get Britain Working White Paper the REC shared insights and the likely context for recruitment in 2025 and beyond.
Leaving us with much food for thought, Kate also gave a longer-term view stating that 65% of children entering primary school in 2016 will, by the time they are economically active, work in completely new jobs that do not exist today. Mind blowing, but exciting and this insight certainly gave the Pennaand Stafford Long family much to think about and plan for. Keeping up to date on the market and the recruitment trends means we are better placed to support our clients and candidates and we welcomed the opportunity to hear from our industry body and benefit from their incredible knowledge and insight. Thank you, Kate and REC.
